FRANCHISE MARKETING

Franchise Marketing

Franchise Marketing is a broad term describing various aspects of franchisor and franchisee marketing. Franchisee marketing is often referred to as local franchise marketing, local market advertising, or franchisee marketing. Franchisor marketing typically refers to advertising for new franchisees but can also refer to the aspects of local franchisee marketing managed by the franchisor.

Local franchisee marketing comes in many forms. Some franchise companies control all or the bulk of local marketing at the corporate level. The corporate office may control websites, social media, TV, and mass media like TV and Radio. Other franchise brands divide the duties of local marketing between the franchisor and franchisee with the franchisor managing mass media and the local franchisees engaging in marketing most effective when executed in the local market. In some cases, the franchisor may choose to create the marketing materials and marketing strategies while leaving the bulk of the execution of the plan to be performed locally by the franchisees. When forming a franchise, it is important to determine your key demographic and which marketing strategies will bring the desired results in the local markets. Franchisors need to decide, what percentage or flat amount a franchisee should spend locally to drive their initial launch, growth phase, and to maintain success long-term. Franchisors will need to decide on forming an advertising fund, and whether they will have a franchisees advertising council. Other considerations are regional advertising groups and allowing for reallocation of the various advertising funds for special circumstances.
